What's the difference between the Glass Water System & Gravity Water System?
The main differences between the two systems are:
Material
Filtration functionality
Size
Here's a summary chart of their differences, with additional details on the differences below.
Reservoir Material | Glass | BPA/BPS-free Plastic |
Ceramic Pre-Filter | No | Yes |
Filtration Rate for 1 Upper Tank | 5 minutes | 2-3 hours |
Capacity | 8 L / 2.1 gal | 10 L / 2.6 gal |
Height | 43 cm / 17 in | 60 cm / 24 in |
Material
The Glass Water System is made from a combination of glass, bamboo and stainless steel whereas the Gravity Water System is made from BPA/BPS-free plastic.
Filtration Functionality
The filtration of the Glass Water System and the Gravity Water System are very similar. They both filter 90+ contaminants, including chlorine, lead, fluoride, and VOCs.
The biggest difference is that the Gravity Water System uses a Ceramic Pre-Filter to reduce particulates like rust and sediment in water, whereas the Glass Water System does not. Since the Gravity Water Systems uses a Ceramic Pre-Filter, it offers the most comprehensive filtration, eliminating particles greater than 0.3 micron size.
The Ceramic Pre-Filter affects the filtration speed, so the Gravity Water System takes about 2-3 hours for one upper tank to filter through. Since the Glass Water System doesn't have a Ceramic Pre-Filter, it filters much faster: one upper tank takes about 5 minutes to filter through.
Size
The Gravity Water System is slightly taller and larger in capacity than the Glass Water System.
