UNITED STATES SALES TAXES
Why am I now being charged sales tax?
You may notice that sales tax is now being added to your Santevia order, even though it may not have been charged on previous purchases.
As Santevia has grown in popularity in the United States, we have reached the level of sales activity that requires us to register for and collect sales tax in certain states. This requirement is commonly referred to as “sales tax nexus”.
Each state establishes its own rules for when an out-of-state or international business must begin collecting sales tax. Once Santevia meets the applicable requirements in a state, we are legally required to calculate, collect and remit the appropriate sales tax on taxable orders shipped to customers in that state.
Why wasn't I charged tax before?
Previously, Santevia had not yet met the registration or sales tax nexus requirements in your state. Once those requirements were met, we became obligated to begin collecting sales tax on applicable orders.
Has anything else changed with my order?
No. This does not reflect a change to the price of the Santevia product itself. The additional amount is sales tax collected on behalf of the applicable state and local tax authorities.
The tax rate may vary depending on your shipping address and the state and local tax rules that apply to your order.
Can Santevia remove or waive the sales tax?
Unfortunately, no. When an order is taxable and Santevia is legally required to collect sales tax in the destination state, we cannot remove or waive it.
We understand that this may come as a surprise, particularly if sales tax was not charged on your previous orders. We appreciate your understanding as Santevia complies with U.S. state and local sales tax requirements.
